There are two major interpretations of the term microcontent:
1. Metadata – data that provides information about other data, a brief structured text format that provides a clear and concise idea of the content of a web page, article, news, etc.
2. Microblogging – a short rich media post with that can stand as alone post or be used as embeddable content in a variety of contexts – for example popular social media formats like tweets, Instagram posts, Pinterest pins or Youtube videos.
